Heimwehflue is a small hill next to Interlaken, with a nice viewpoint overlooking the city, lake and mountains.
At the top, you'll find a restaurant, playground, and model railway exhibit. For the best views, you can climb the lookout tower to climb, a fantastic place to watch the alpine glow fade over the alps.
Location: Waldeggstrasse 89, 3800 Interlaken
Open: April thru late October
To reach the top, you can ride a 100 year old vintage funicular train up the hill. Or save some money and walk up, about 25 mins.
The main attraction is their alpine coaster, a little thrill ride through the forest. They also have a restaurant, playground, and model railway exhibit. Length: 400m • Style: single rail track
Our opinion: This coaster is fun. But we think it a little pricey for a rather short ride. If this is the only coaster you can visit on your trip, then do it. Otherwise wait for a better one elsewhere.
💡Heimwehfluh is right next to the Interlaken Ropes Park. So you could combine your visit.
Most people buy a combo ticket that includes the funicular ride up and coaster ride down. You can buy a single coaster ride (if you walked up) or return ticket just for the funicular, no coaster. See current prices.
Discount on the funicular ticket with Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Half Fare Card, Berner Oberland Pass, and GA.
The Heimwehfluh funicular is located at Waldeggstrasse 89, 3800 Interlaken.
