The Moosjisee is the fourth lake along the Zermatt 5 Lake trail, at an altitude of 2140m. You'll reach it after about 2h30 mins of hiking. See location on map.
The water has a pretty milky blue color, created by minerals in the glacier runoff. This means that the water doesn't reflect the Matterhorn very well.
It's an artificial reservoir with a dam and waterworks for snowmaking and power generation. So you'll need to be a bit clever to crop that out in your photography.
We think the nicest photos of the lake are taken after you pass the lake and are hiking up the hill. When you turn around, the lake will be framed by the large forest and many peaks behind that. This is particularly beautiful in early October when the larch trees turn golden.
