The cable car was renovated in 2023. It fits 80 people. The ride takes 7 mins one way.
💡In summer, they offer a few "sunrise" rides very early in the morning. Afterwards, you can enjoy breakfast at the mountain restaurant.
How to get there
This cable car is located in the Flühli-Sörenberg area, at the far end of the valley, no address. See on Google maps.
By public transport:
The closest bus stop is Sörenberg, Rothornbahn. From Lucerne, take a train to Wolhusen, change trains to Schüpfheim, then bus the rest of the way. Check schedule on SBB.ch.
By car:
It's best to drive here via Schüpfheim, through the Entlebuch region. You could put Rothornstrasse 21, 6174 Flühli in your GPS, but drive thru the village and further up the valley until you see the cable car. There is a parking lots at the cable car station.
Note: Google may try to route you on the mountain road over the Glaubenbielen pass from Giswil. I do not recommend this as the road is very narrow and winding, a stressful drive at best (I vowed never to drive it again). Also traffic is restricted for buses and large vehicles, only one direction per hour.
Tickets
You can buy cable car tickets online or at the ticket office on-site.
Free with Lucerne Tell Pass. Discount with Swiss Travel Pass and Swiss Half Fare Card.
Bikes and dogs are allowed but need a ticket (small fee).
💡 BUDGET TIP: It's much less expensive to use this cable car than the cogwheel train from Brienz on the other side of the mountain.
