This hike along the north shore of the Walensee lake has beautiful views of the lake and mountains. In October, many trees and the grape vines turn pretty colors, making for a lovely fall hike.

Trail: Moderate • 3 h • 7.6 k • 250m up, 240m down
See trail mapmore info on SwissFamilyFun.com

This hike goes through fields and forest, with some steep elevation gain, stairs, and rocky paths. Best for hikers and kids 8+ with sturdy shoes and some hiking experience .

Note: This hike passes the tallest free-falling waterfall in Switzerland, the Seerenbachfälle. However in fall, the water flow may be minimal or completely gone. It depends on recent rain fall.

How to get there

This hike relies on ferries to reach both ends of the trail. Since the ferry has a limited schedule in fall, you may need to make some adjustments. See Walensee boat schedule.

The shorter version of this hike, requires the ferry from Weesen to Betlis, which only runs through the third weekend of October. After that, you would need to do the longer hike including the section from from Weesen to Betlis.

At the end of the hike, you take the ferry from Quinten to Murg, which runs continuously through winter.
