It's a short walk through a lovely forest to this 33 meter tall observation tower near Zurich. It's 152 steps to reach the top, where you have views across Lake Zurich, the Zurich Oberland countryside and mountain peaks in the distance.
In late October, many of the trees covering the surrounding hills turn yellow and orange, making for a stunning contrast to the blue lake and skies.
You can drive or take a bus to the Albis pass. Then about a 30 min walk to the tower. If you want a longer hike, you can continue on the forest ridge trail to the Albishorn restaurant, which also has great views across the lake and delicious Flammenkuchen for lunch.
Trail to tower: easy • 30 mins each way • 65m up and down
Trail to Albishorn: moderate • 2h30 • 8 km round trip • 250m up and down
