During the Advent season in Lucerne, the city comes alive with Christmas markets offering local and international food. Although Lucerne's Christmas markets are not particularly big, we love the setting in the very charming Lucerne old town with a spectacular backdrop of the lake and snowy mountains.

Location: The main market is at Franziskanerplatz which has about 60 stalls selling gifts.

On weekends only, you'll find a handicraft market at the at the Weinmarkt plaza in the old town. Here you can find crafts from local artisans, perfect for last-minute Christmas shopping. Learn more.
