Alpen Tower is the mountain viewpoint (2,250 m) at the Hasliberg mountain resort. You can easily reach the peak using a series of cable cars and gondolas, starting in Meiringen.

At the top, there is a short path to the edge of the peak, where you look across to the Jungfrau Region mountains and down to Lake Brienz. There's a self-service restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating, with typical Swiss dishes, not particularly special.

We typically visit Alpen Tower before hiking on the Skyline trail or Muggestutz activity trail for kids.

How to get there

The Meiringen cable car is located near Underem Gfell 11, 3860 Meiringen, about a 10 min walk from the Meiringen train station (about 30 mins from Interlaken). By car, there is a big parking lot nearby - see on map.

The cable car takes you up to Reuti, where you transfer to a gondola that takes you up to Mägisalp. Then transfer to a second gondola up to Alpen Tower.

Tickets

You can purchase ticket at the cable car station. If you are hiking, let them know what you plan to do and they will sell you the correct ticket.

Hiking

If you want to hike the Muggestutz activity trail, ride the gondola back down to Mägisalp and start the trail there.

If you want to hike the Marble Run Trail, ride the second gondola down to Bidmi and start the trail there.
