Fürenalp is a mountain area at the far end of the Engelberg valley. A tiny cable car takes a steep ascent to a spectacular mountain viewpoint at 1823m.

At the top, you'll find a restaurant with a large panorama terrace as well as a small playground with a trampoline and other amusements.

For hiking, we like the Stäuberweg Panorama trail that leads to a big waterfall. For a shorter option, try the "Grotzli" walk, a 3.4 km loop starting and ending at the restaurant.

Open: summer season usually late April thru October

How to get there

By car: There is metered parking next to the cable car - Wasserfallstrasse, 6390 Engelberg (46°48'06.6"N 8°26'57.8"E)

By public transport: Take the train to Engelberg, then bus to Engelberg, Fürenalpbahn. The bus drops directly at the cable car station.
