Amden is a small mountain area south of Zurich, an easy choice for a quick impromptu day trip. It's very affordable, never crowded and the views are fantastic.

The "Höhenweg" or High Mountain Trail is a good choice for fall, with some trees turning color and a section through a delightful moor that turns bright orange in October. Learn more and see trail map.

If you want a longer, harder trail, simply skip the chair lift to give yourself more elevation.

If you’re looking for something shorter for kids, Amden also has a 3.5 km theme trail designed for children with a dozen interactive activity stations.

Taking the chairlift to the top of the mountain offers spectacular views of the surroundings and provides access to the trails.
