Closed: They are replacing the Schilthorn cable car this year. The cable car to Birg is scheduled to open in mid December 2024. The section Birg to Schilthorn should open in mid March 2025. See current status.

The Birg "Thrill Walk" is a suspended steel walkway bolted to the rock face of the Birg mountain peak. The short walk has a bunch of fun elements to cross, including a section with a glass floor, a tight wire to walk across (with a safety net), and a suspended metal tube to crawl through.

The Thrill Walk is easy, safe, and suitable for all ages. You don't need a safety harness or sporty skills, just a head for heights. It has stairs and the pathway is narrow, so not suitable for those with reduced mobility.

When to visit

This cable car is open mostly year round, usually with a short maintenance break in late April.

How to get there

To reach the Thrill Walk, you ride a cable car from Stechelberg or Mürren up the mountain to the Birg station, one station before you reach Schilthorn. See Mürren-Schlthorn cable car station on Google Maps.

We typically stop at Birg on way back down after visiting the Schilthorn peak.

Cost

The cost of the cable cars depends on where you start your journey. From Stechelberg in the valley, a round trip ticket costs about CHF 110/adult. Less expensive if you are already in Mürren.

Discounted with Berner Oberland Pass, Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Half Fare Card, and SBB GA. Not covered by Jungfrau Travel Pass.
