The Zermatt Sign is nice place to take a photo with the Matterhorn peak. The sign is just a couple mins walk from the Schwarzsee gondola station and Hotel Restaurant Schwarzsee. See location on Google Maps.
In winter, you will be walking on snow for a couple mins to reach the sign. The snow can be slippery, so make sure to have sturdy, waterproof footwear with good tread. You may also find trekking poles helpful to keep your balance.
How to get there
The Zermatt Sign is located near the Schwarzsee gondola station on the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise side of the Zermatt ski resort (south end of the village).
Get to the Zermatt gondola station at Schluhmattstrasse 121, 3920 Zermatt. Ride up to the Furi station and then to Schwarzsee station.
Note: Some gondolas lead to Trockener Steg or Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Those are not the same direction. Make sure you are going direction Schwarzsee. Ask the staff if you aren't sure.
If you are skiing to the photospot, you cannot ski directly to the sign, since it's on a hill. From Trockener Steg or Furgsattel, follow any ski run that leads to Furgg. Then do a short gondola ride up to Schwarzsee. Then ski just below the gondola station on Trail 51 direction Stafelalp.
