Felsenegg is little mountain very close to Zurich, part of the Uetliberg mountain range west of the city.

This short trail starts at the top of the Adliswil-Felsenegg cable car and loops through the countryside, passing through a few farms, and back along the ridge. The walk ends at the Felsenegg restaurant, which has a spectacular view over Lake Zurich.

I’ve been here many times, particularly during the shoulder season and winter when other mountain trails aren’t open. It’s good for visitors too that need a little taste of the Swiss “mountains” without traveling too far or spending too much.

How to get there

The Adliswil cable car is located at Zelgstr. 80, Adliswil, about a 10 min drive south of Zurich city. There are a few parking spots in front of the station.

If you are coming by train, ride to the Adliswil, Bahnhof train station (15 mins from Zurich HB). Then a 7 min walk up through the neighborhood to the cable car station.

If you have a car, you can drive to the Buchenegg pass and start the trail there, instead of riding the cable car.
