This mountain scooter route is on the Sunnegga mountain in Zermatt. It follows a mountain road about 7.2 km, descending 821m down to the Zermatt village.

Open: usually available through the first week of October.

There were some flat parts at the beginning where we had to walk the scooters. But overall we really liked this route and found it relatively easy and safe.

You can see a video of us on this scooter run on our YouTube channel.

Cost

You can rent "Kickbikes" and helmets at the Sunnegga funicular station. In 2024, the Kickbike rental costs CHF 18/adult, CHF 9/kids 9-15. You can also get a family package for 2 adult + 2 kids, which is slightly cheaper.

This fee does not include the mountain transport to reach the scooter route. At a minimum you'll need a one way ticket on the Sunnegga funicular. But if you are doing a hike earlier in the day, you might need a different lift ticket.

How to get there

This scooter run starts at the top of the Sunnegga funicular, where you can also rent and pick up the scooters.

The Sunnegga funicular is a short walk from Zermatt train station - see on Google maps.

We suggest riding the Kickbikes after hiking in the area. We like the Riffelalp Three Lake hike, which ends at Sunnegga. You could also do the Zermatt Flower Hike or 5 Lake Walk.
