The Northface Trail in Mürren, Switzerland is a picturesque hiking trail that offers stunning mountain views and meadows bursting with wildflowers in summer. It's a loop trail from Mürren, which can be made easier or harder depending on your preferences.
For the easiest version, start by riding the Allmendhubel funicular train from Mürren up the mountain (see funicular station on map). At the top of the funicular, you'll find a restaurant and playground.
Follow trail signs to find the North Face trail, which heads into the alpine meadow up and to your left. The trail loops counterclockwise, ending in Mürren.
Trail: moderate • 2h15 loop • 6.6km • 100m up, 370m down
See Mürren North Face trail map.
If you prefer a more difficult hike, hike it clockwise instead, which gives you more uphill climbing.
If you want to skip funicular train, you can simply hike the section between Allmendhubel and Mürren. There are a few trails between the two. We suggest follow the Panoramaweg trail signs for this section. In this case, the trail takes about 3 hours, 8.6 km. See "no funicular" version of this trail.
