Honold Cafe is a family-owned Swiss confiserie delighting customers with their handcrafted chocolates, pastries, and cakes since 1905.

While it's not our very favorite Swiss chocolate, we do like many of their chocolates like the ginger, coco crispy, and chestnut flavored pralines. We also love their fanciful creations like the signature Maikäfer and Christmas tree towers.

The cafe definitely has that old-school feel, with lots of old ladies meeting friends for coffee. If you want to sit somewhere charming, I think you can do better by instead visiting Cafe Sprüngli at Paradeplatz or Milchbar.

Honold is well known by locals for their chocolate tram, which runs for two weeks around the end of October. You ride around the city while you eat chocolate pralines, drink hot chocolate and eat cake.
