Niesen's near-perfect pyramid shape has captured the attention of many artists, including Ferdinand Hodler, Paul Klee, and Cuno Amiet. To reach the summit of the 2362m mountain, it takes just 30 minutes to ride on the funicular railway from Mülenen. Every year, the traditional Niesen Step Race showcases contestants racing up and down 11674 steps along the railway line.
