More than 300 sunny days in the year but I didn't have luck with the weather this time. Still, choosing Lugano you have a lot of chances to enjoy the sun thanks to it's location in Southern Switzerland. What you can do in Lugano? 1. Explore the Old Town: Take a leisurely stroll through Lugano's historic center, known as Città Vecchia. Don't miss the Piazza della Riforma, the main square, with its elegant buildings and lively atmosphere. 2. Visit Lugano's Cultural Institutions: The Lugano Art Museum (Museo d'Arte della Città di Lugano) showcases contemporary art exhibitions, while the Cantonal Art Museum (Museo Cantonale d'Arte) features works by regional artists. The Hermann Hesse Museum pays tribute to the famous writer who lived in the area. 3. Relax at Parco Ciani: Parco Ciani is a beautiful lakeside park that offers a tranquil retreat from the city. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the promenade, admire the lush gardens, and relax on one of the benches while enjoying the stunning views of Lake Lugano. 4. Take a Boat Trip on Lake Lugano: Hop on a public boat and enjoy a leisurely cruise across the lake, passing by charming villages and picturesque landscapes. You can also rent a paddleboat or kayak to explore the lake at your own pace. 5. Visit Monte San Salvatore: Take a funicular ride up Monte San Salvatore to enjoy panoramic views of Lugano and the surrounding area. Once at the top, you can go for a hike, have a picnic, or simply soak in the breathtaking scenery. 6. Discover the Olive Trail: The Olive Trail (Sentiero dell'Olive) is a picturesque walking path that winds through terraced olive groves, vineyards, and charming villages. It offers stunning views of Lake Lugano and is a great way to explore the region's agricultural heritage. 7. Shop at Via Nassa: Via Nassa is Lugano's main shopping street, lined with elegant boutiques, luxury brands and specialty stores.
