Brienz Rothorn Bahn is a unique experience with its breathtaking mountain views and iconic steam operated cogwheel railway. You can definitely step back in time while riding the historic railway, with daily operations running since 1892. The Railway puffs along the mountain flank to Planalp, past alpine meadows, streams, rocks and through sparse forests above the tree line to Rothorn Kulm (Berghaus & Restaurant with panoramic view). The stretch from the Brienz valley station to Rothorn Kulm measures 7.6 kilometers and the trip takes an hour. The Planalp midway station is halfway - the ride to it takes 30 minutes. The minimum time of a return trip to Rothorn Kulm is 2 hours and 30 minutes (return trip 2 hours and minimum stay 30 minutes).
