Soi Romanee (also called Soi Romani or Rommanee), is an interesting street in the old town of Phuket. It has a long and colourful history, including being known as a red-light district in the past, but today it is home to souvenir shops, trendy ice cream parlours, boutique guesthouses and cafés for locals and tourists alike. Tourists flock to the street, taking photos and checking out the unique Sino-Portuguese architecture of the buildings. For those wanting something a little more off the beaten track, explore away from the crowds at dusk or early morning when the street is peaceful and its soul can be felt. The street runs between the popular Thalang Road and Dibuk Road, and is definitely worth visiting if you’re touring Phuket Town.
