The Rockbound Lake hike is a challenging yet rewarding adventure in Banff National Park, taking hikers through lush forests and up the slopes of Castle Mountain to two stunning alpine lakes. The trail offers breathtaking views of towering cliffs, golden larch trees, and picturesque meadows along the way.
It's a long boring approach to the lake and not one we'd recommend to everyone. However, once in the subalpine the views get very nice with Tower Lake and Rockbound Lake being wonderful lakes to relax along. The route clocks in nearly 18km of hiking so come prepared for a pretty big day, at least the terrain and trail are fairly approachable.
It follows the same route for those looking to scramble up to the mountain's summit. However, that is incredibly long day that should only be reserved for those fit enough. For those living in the Valley it's definitely one for the bucket list.
