The Bow River Trail is a great walk just outside town that leads along the Bow River from the Banff Canoe Club to Surprise Corner. It's a mostly paved trail with nice benches along the river to take in the scenic views. It's a pleasant walk to Surprise Corner that doesn't necessarily need to be completed. Check out some of Canada's most enviable homes along the river. From Muskrat Street to the northwest end of the trail, it's even wheelchair/stroller friendly.
