Cabo Girão richting Ribeira Brava
Levada do Norte is one of the largest and most important levadas on the island, running through much of the region. The irrigation channel starts near Cabo Girão, a famous tourist spot with a glass platform that allows you to look 580m straight down to the sea, and takes hikers towards Boa Morte, above Ribeira Brava.
This trail is quite easy and enjoyable, and it can be walked year-round thanks to its location in the southern part of the island, where the weather is milder.
As you walk, you’ll be treated to fantastic views of places like Câmara de Lobos and Campanário. You’ll also pass by green fields, well-kept farms, and charming villages with houses and buildings. Occasionally, you may see locals working on their land or simply out for a walk.
Like many other trails on Madeira, you’ll encounter a variety of plants and animals along the way. Take a moment to pause, enjoy the stunning views, and let the natural surroundings refresh your spirit!
