The Sri Sumana Saman Devalaya, also known as the Maha Saman Devalaya, is a shrine dedicated to the deity Saman located in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. Believed to be the guardian god of the region, Saman is deeply venerated in the Sabaragamuwa province. The shrine was built in 1270 AD by King Parakramabahu II and has a rich history, including being destroyed during Portuguese colonization but later rebuilt by King Rajasinghe II. The annual Esala Perahara procession held at the shrine attracts visitors from all over the world with its cultural displays and elephant processions.
