Situated in the andean grasslands, north of Quito, Laguna Grande de Mojanda is an amazing sight for travelers. The laguna, which is the largest of three, sits within a volcanic caldera surrounded by mountainous walls of exposed volcanic rock. Visitors to this area can ascend Fuya Fuya Volcano for spectacular views of the andean landscape or explore miles of trails around the lake and discover hidden beaches and overlooks. Despite its chilly climate, Laguna Grande de Mojanda's deep blue waters make it a tranquil getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You should bring a 4x4 to reach the parking area. You can either come from Otavalo side or from Tabacundo. Camping here might be risky due to some reported robberies.
