Pasochoa, located in the Guayllabamba river basin of the Ecuadorian Andes, is an extinct volcano that has breathtaking views and a vast array of wildlife. At 4,200 metres high, it has a collapsed crater with a semi-circular shape created approximately 100,000 years ago due to an eruption that destroyed the crater and occidental slope of the previous volcanic cone. A lush forest full of pumas, foxes, skunks and diverse birds can be found on its slopes, while its rocky surface means that while it's not suitable for agriculture, it makes for an exciting and beautiful tourist destination.
