The Playa de los Monos is a protected area that is located in the port of Misahuallí, 20 minutes from Tena. It is the home of the Machin monkey species, which have lived and reproduced there for more than 20 years. The island is divided by a small branch of the Misahuallí River and its surrounding forest offers spectacular biodiversity with flora like yutzos, higuerón, batea, silquillo, tocota, guabillas, cacao blanco, and fauna such as golondrinas, tangaras, violacius, oropéndolas, colibríes and insects. Visitors can dive into the clear waters or explore the rainforest while admiring the playful monkeys in their natural habitat. With its warm climate, lush vegetation, and diverse wildlife, Playa de los Monos is an ideal spot for adventure and relaxation, as well as learning and appreciation of nature.
