Puerto Misahuallí, Ecuador, is a small gem nestled at the point where the Río Misahuallí meets the Río Napo. It's a popular weekend destination for locals and an unbeatable starting-point for exploring the Amazon rainforest. Here, visitors can soak up the beauty of the surrounding jungle and try out activities such as hiking to the Cascadas de Latas Waterfall or going on an all-day river tour down the Rio Napo. One of the highlights will surely be visiting Amazoonico Animal Rescue Centre to learn about literally rescued animals and the centre's mission to get them back to the wild. To unwind after a day of activities, Puerto Misahuallí's own river beach is the perfect place to relax and take in the glistening water, local BBQs, and wild monkeys playing in nearby trees.
