The Eldheimar Museum is an exciting and immersive destination, located in Vestmannaeyjar (the Westman Islands). Get fascinating insight into the 1973 eruption on the island and its devastating effects on what was then a thriving fishing community of 5,300 residents. There are interactive exhibits to explore, such as a wheel for visitors to understand how lava spread across the town; an actual resurrected home; an audio guide in several languages detailing events before, during, and after the eruption; and a movie screening to finish off the tour. Fun for kids too!
