Skarðsvík Beach, located on the western tip of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, stands out with its golden sandy shores and turquoise waters, making it look almost tropical rather than your typical Icelandic beach. Despite its beauty, the waves here can be pretty wild, so it's best to keep a safe distance. Accessible via a gravel road with stunning views on the way to Svörtuloft Lighthouse.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A pretty little beach with golden sand on the Snæfellsnes peninsula.

  • Best season: Summer.

  • Best time of day: Midday and sunset has the best light.

  • Nice to know: This spot is perfect for the kids to play in but always be careful with the waves in Iceland, the can sneak up on you!
