Like most swimming pools in Iceland, this one is like the local hangout spot where people go to relax, swim, and socialize. The swimming pool in Neskaupsstaður is an outdoor pool with two large water slides, hot tubs and a sauna. The pool is located on the sunny side of the village and the views of the surrounding mountains and fjord make it extra special

Swimming pools are an integral part of Icelandic culture and has been ever since people started gathering in natural hot springs in the past. It's where people meet an talk about everything from the weather to politics. Entering one of those pools is really the easiest way to immerse yourself in the local culture.

PS. They're almost all geothermally heated!
