A very unique basalt cliff formation on the Snæfellnes peninsula. It is comprised of two towering peak formations, the larger reaching a remarkable 75 meters high. This stunning natural attraction has earned the nickname "The Rocky Castle" due to its distinct appearance. Additionally, the area is rich in folklore - some farmers will not even tend to the lands near Lóndrangar due to the belief that elves inhabit the area. Consequently, this site provides a unique combination of geological grandeur and folkloric mystique, making it a fun spot to visit the whole year around.

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A unique cliff formation on the Snæfellnes peninsula.

  • Best season: Any.

  • Best time of day: Sunrise (sunset is also beautiful but it gets quite backlit which makes photography a bit more tricky).

  • Nice to know: You can walk around the area for some different views of the formation.
