The Osvor Maritime Museum, also known as Sjóminjasafnið Ósvör in Icelandic, is a cool replica of an old-school Icelandic fishing station from the 19th century. Located in Bolungarvik in the Westfjords region, this museum gives you a glimpse into the daily life of Icelandic fishermen back in the day. You can check out traditional fishing tools, boats, and even see how they used to dry fish. Plus, the museum is set in a stunning location with awesome views of the Westfjords. It's a must-visit spot for history buffs and anyone curious about Iceland's maritime heritage!

QUICK NOTES:

  • What it is: A unique maritime museum in the Westfjords.

  • Best season: Summer (it's usually open from early June to late). Outside that you can still try to book a tour.

  • Best time of day: General opening hours are from 10 am to 4 pm.

  • Nice to know: Outside general opening hours, contact osvor@osvor.is or 892-5744 to see if you can book a tour.
