Within 30 minutes from the Keflavík Airport you can find yourself at the "toe of Reykjanes" and one of the views from there is of the legendary Karlinn ("The Man"). The 50-60 m high seacliff is essentially an eroded volcanic plug, standing high and mighty just off the coast of Valahnúkur. Karlinn is a pretty popular attraction among travellers and photographers, as it is truly picturesque, especially when hit big some giant waves during or soon after big storms.
QUICK NOTES:
What it is: An epic rock formation just off the southwest corner of the Reykjanes peninsula.
Best season: Any (during or just after a big storm is my favourite).
Best time of day: Sunset is always pretty there.
Nice to know: If you come during or after a big storm, you might luck out with some giant waves crashing on the rock.
