Jökulsárlón probably doesn't need much introduction. This glacier lagoon is one of the most popular attractions in Iceland. Located south of Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier, Jökulsárlón is part of the vast national park of the same name. Here you can marvel at the pretty sight of floating icebergs, curious seals and the epic backdrop offered by the national park.
QUICK NOTES:
What it is: The most famous glacial lagoon in Iceland.
Best season: Any.
Best time of day: Any.
Nice to know: Since this is a very popular spot there tends to be a lot of people there. To get a little bit away from the crowds you can park your car a little bit to the west of the main parking (before you reach the bridge) or you can park on the main parking lot and simply walk a little bit further along the lagoon until you find yourself a bit more solitude. You're also very likely to spot some seals in the lagoon so keep an eye out!
