Fjaðrárgljúfur is a stunning canyon located in South Iceland, near the historic town of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. It was created by the runoff from a glacial lake, which slowly carved the dark rocks and resulted in this iconic canyon with 2-3 waterfalls at the bottom. The hike up along the canyon doesn't take long and is relatively easy so I definitely recommend that!
QUICK NOTES:
What it is: One of Iceland's most iconic canyon, located on the South Coast.
Best season: Any.
Best time of day: Any.
Nice to know: You can hike along it for some interesting views along they way but for a look straight into the canyon you need to walk onto the small bridge right in front of it.
