It's hard to beat the views from the small town swimming pools and the Eskifjordur Swimming Pool is no exception. It has a solid 25 x 12 m outdoor pool with two hot tubs and a sauna. There is also three water slides and a children's pool making it a great spot for the family to unwind (or wind up).
Swimming pools are an integral part of Icelandic culture and has been ever since people started gathering in natural hot springs in the past. It's where people meet an talk about everything from the weather to politics. Entering one of those pools is really the easiest way to immerse yourself in the local culture.
PS. They're almost all geothermally heated!
