These are the iconic sea stacks by the famous black sand beach, Reynisfjara. To get a closer look, hike along the beach towards the east but watch out for the tide, you can get trapped when it's going in! And ALWAYS be careful of the waves there, they might look easy and non threatening but they can come at a surprise - stay way, especially with kids.
QUICK NOTES:
What it is: The iconic sea stacks by Reynisfjara black sand beach.
Best season: Any (winter for higher chance of epic waves BUT watch out, don't go close to the sea).
Best time of day: Any.
Nice to know / WARNING: Be very careful of the ocean there. Even if you've spent some time there and you think the waves aren't that big, don't go very close to the ocean - ESPECIALLY NOT WITH CHILDREN. There are notorious sneaker waves that have killed many tourists there. And now on to a more positive note! When you're there, make sure you check out the basalt columns and the small cave if the tide allows. And if the tide is low, you can walk even further along the rocks towards the sea stacks for some different types of views (and you'll get away from the big crowds). But always be aware of the ocean!
