The Palace of Holyroodhouse is the official royal residence in Scotland, located at the base of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.
The palace has been the seat of a permanent royal court since the 16th century and has served as a setting for various important state occasions. Today, King Charles III spends his summer residence at the palace, carrying out official duties and engagements throughout the week. Visitors can find the 16th-century apartments of Mary, Queen of Scots, the State Apartments, and the gardens of the palace within Holyrood Park.
The Queen's Gallery at the palace was also opened the public in 2002, allowing art pieces from the Royal Collection to be displayed. The Palace of Holyroodhouse provides an interesting glimpse into centuries of Scottish history and royal heritage.
