The Edro III, a cargo ship built in 1966, ran aground off Pegeia in Cyprus on October 8, 2011, while carrying plasterboard. The ship, over 80 meters long and weighing around 2,300-2500 tons, now rests at an angle near the sea caves area. All crew members were rescued, and efforts to remove pollutants and make the hull watertight were completed by 2013. Despite various attempts, the ship remains stranded due to the challenging nature of the project, with no current plans for its removal.
