Just a short drive from Vilnius is one of Lithuania’s most unique destinations; Trakai Castle. Set on a small island in Lake Galvė, this mediaeval 14th century castle feels like something out of a fairytale, with its red-brick towers and beautiful lake views. This spot is an absolute must visit if you're travelling to Vilnius, it was one of our favourite places!
We recommend going on a leisurely walk around the castle’s gorunds, you'll find plenty of photo spots to capture the beauty of the castle. The Castle is open to the public and has a museum inside, with an adult ticket costing 12 Euros.
It's around a 40 minute drive from the centre of Vilnius and is very easy to get to via car, bus, train or a guided tour.
