Naena Waterfall is a must-see spot in the rural town of Myoko, Niigata Prefecture. Located at the base of a 55-meter high basalt cliff, the waterfall's impressive water flow has earned it the nickname “Earthquake Waterfall”. Nature lovers will have plenty of opportunities to experience the stunning scenery, as the 400-meter trail leading up to the falls is mostly paved and can be completed in about fifteen minutes. For those looking for a fun activity there, visitors can try their hand at catching the noodles being served at the nearby restaurant, via Nagashi-Somen — a unique dish made by floating the noodles down a bamboo slide. Naena Waterfall is particularly popular during the fall season when the leaves take on vibrant colors, so make sure to plan your trip accordingly.
