Phuket is full of natural wonders and best of all most of them are completely free to visit! The Kamala Rock Ponds are a great place to explore if you are wanting to experience an easy level jungle trek and the raw natural beauty of the Andaman sea. To get to Kamala Rock Ponds you will need to travel by car or motorbike and park at the entry of the trail. It can be hard to spot, so look carefully – take the first bend after the Ayara Kamala Resort, drive slowly up the mountain around 100m and look for the Pine trees and trail on the right. It is not a very difficult trail to complete as it is relativly short with not a great deal of ascent/descent involved. Take some water, wear appropriate shoes for off road and take sun protection as you will be exposed to full sunlight (depending on time of day) – it can get hot. Ropes are present to help you get up and down the steeper areas. As you approach the bottom of the trail you will be treated to the jaw-dropping sights and sounds of this stunning natural location. There is plenty of shaded room to relax and enjoy a packed lunch with friends and it is an ideal romantic private escape with your loved one. The Ponds are bursting with natural life, witness different types of fish species swimming in the shallow pools and curious crabs scurrying along the rocks. Don’t be scared – all the animals are friendly, respect their space and they will respect you. Find a nice place to soak in the water, the temperature is mild and comfortable making it the perfect refreshment after the hike. Be aware that some waves may crash hard on the rocks so don’t get too close to the edge. Take a camera and capture the perfect photo.
