An amazing temple which is located at the top of the mountain named Wat Chaloem Phra Kiat Phrachomklao Rachanusorn or also known as "Wat Phra Buddhabat Pu Pha Daeng". High up on the tips of the mountains is a spectacle unlike anywhere else in Thailand, with golden and white pagodas scattered atop peaks and upon precipices. When you reach 'basecamp', take the songthaew up and enjoy a sweaty thirty minute trek up (800 steps) the hillside to one of the country's most glorious viewing points. Also, don't forget to take a moment to appreciate the incredible dedication that went into building these stupas over such an incredible terrain. Thirteen years ago, a revered Lampang monk led the charge and a team of 46 workers, spending two years carrying bricks, mortar, cement and every piece of the temple up the mountain each and every day until its completion. There are several paths to explore with different viewpoints, pagodas, shrines and even a Buddha footprint. Make sure to bring water and some snacks, because you can easily spent 2-3 hours there. You can stop there doing a small detour from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, and also add a stop at the hobbit house Take a walk coffee on the way, very photogenic.
