Shiraito Falls, located near the source of Kawatsuki River in Itoshima Peninsula, Fukuoka, is one of Japan’s most picturesque waterfalls. At 24 meters tall and cascading like white threads down the rocks, Shiraito Falls make for an exciting getaway during summer when the rushing waters keep the surrounding areas cool. During early June every year, a festive opening of the falls offers visitors the chance to experience Nagashi Somen, cold noodles flowing down bamboo pipes, and easy fishing with yamame fish ready to be plucked right out of the pool! The falls have an enchanting atmosphere, especially since the 300-year-old Banryu maple tree at the front has been designated a Fukuoka Prefectural Treasure. Whether you choose to get there by train or car, visit these captivating falls for an enjoyable outdoor experience.
