For those looking to take a unique journey through Japan’s Tohoku region, Minenoura Tarumizu Iseki is a must-see experience. Located in the Bandai-Asahi National Park and formed after Mt. Bandai erupted in 1887, this historically significant site is made up of a series of mysterious marsh-like ponds exhibiting hues that range from rusty red to emerald green. A short walk from the Bussankan brings visitors to Aonuma, with its vibrant turquoise waters showcased by the morning sun. With its rocky cliffs, Buddhist statues and small wooden torii gate set in a tranquil forest setting, Minenoura Tarumizu Iseki is an awe-inspiring sight not to be missed.
