Stellenbosch is a fascinating town in the Western Cape province of South Africa, located just 31 miles east of the vibrant capital city of Cape Town. Founded in 1679 by the Governor of the Cape Colony, Stellenbosch is nestled amongst dense oak trees and lush hills, and is celebrated for its abundance of viticulture, winemaking, and history. With the oldest school for girls in South Africa being established in 1860 and a university originating from 1918, Stellenbosch is widely known for its academic history. The pleasant Mediterranean climate provides ample opportunity to explore the outdoors and enjoy activities such as trekking along the banks of the Eerste River. With so much to do and see, Stellenbosch is certainly not a place to miss.
