If you love hiking and volcanic landscapes, Sousaki volcano is worth a look; the main trail is around 1 km, and make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes, because the terrain is rough in some places.
Sousaki volcano, located in northeastern Corinthia, Greece, is a dormant volcano with ongoing solfataric activity. It erupted dacite lava during the Pliocene and early Quaternary periods. The geothermal system releases gases daily, including CO2, CH4, and H2S.
The last eruption created new land in the Gulf of Megara. With earthquakes in 1997 causing magma to rise, future volcanic activities are possible.
