Okay, Marokopa Falls is a total vibe and an underrated gem. It’s a bit of an extra step to reach, but it’s near Waitomo Caves, so if you’re already in the area, it’s totally worth the detour. The 35-meter waterfall splits the Marokopa River and is surrounded by lush native forest, giving it a peaceful, secluded feel. The walk to the falls is super easy, just a 20-minute stroll (800 meter return) through the forest, and then you’re hit with an incredible view from the platform. After heavy rainfall, the falls are even more dramatic, with the water flowing at full force. It’ll for sure make you appreciate nature in all its raw beauty.
