Cathedral Caves are a majestic set of natural sea caves located in the Clutha region of the South Island in New Zealand. Visitors can journey to the caves by walking through the forest to Waipati Beach and take in the sight of the high walls of the two hundred-metre long tunnels reaching heights of thirty metres. With their grandeur and impressive acoustics, these caves have been aptly named Cathedral Caves for their resemblance to one. For safety, the access gate to Cathedral Caves opens two hours before low tide and is closed again one hour after, depending on daily sea conditions.
