Charming Creek Walkway is a two-part track located in the Westport area of New Zealand's West Coast region. The North Walkway section is an easy graded track and 5.5 km one-way, with around two hours of walking time. On this part of the track, visitors can view historic mining relics, such as sealed entrances to underground coal mines, as well as the old bathhouse shell. Further along, visitors will reach Mumm's Mill, a historic milling site, and also Watson’s Mill – which contains steam boilers and other relics from times past. The last section on the track takes travellers to a view of the Mangatini Falls, taking around 10 minutes. Mountain bikers are also welcome, but should be aware of sharp or rusty metal remnants that may be along the track. Charming Creek Walkway offers an interesting insight into West Coast mining history, and is sure to delight nature lovers and outdoor adventurers alike!
